SWIM is an undergraduate group founded to help students navigate the pre-med path during their time at Stanford, with an emphasis in supporting and addressing issues commonly faced by female students.

We aim to provide guidance and information to Stanford undergraduates interested in pursuing careers pertaining to medicine. Specifically, we aim to reach out to women in leadership positions in medically related fields as a means of inspiring Stanford undergraduate students to close the gender gap currently seen in leadership roles in medicine.

SWIM establishes mentorship relationships among undergraduates by pairing lower classmen with upperclassmen mentors. These pairings aim to help undergraduates through the initial difficulties that inevitably accompany the first few years as a premedical student through mentorship from another student who has first hand experience navigating the challenges premeds face at Stanford. We organize both small, informal events for SWIM members to encourage direct interaction and conversation, as well as larger lecture events drawing on a bigger audience. These events are intended to provide a platform on which students can interact with peer and alumni mentors.
