SENIOR PRESIDENT

Gabriella Piccininni

Class of 2019

Gabi is a senior from Toronto, Canada majoring in Science, Technology & Society. Along with being a member of Canada Club and Stanford Finance, Gabi has been part of SWIM since freshman year. During her summers, Gabi conducted research for the International Olympic Committee, Stanford Health Care and the Hospital for Sick Children. Additionally, Gabi spent time in Morogoro, Tanzania where she worked with infectious disease specialists to develop a greater understanding of global healthcare systems and improve rural medicine. Gabi is very interested in the intersection of medicine and finance and plans to pursue a career in biotechnology venture capital. When she’s not at Philz, you can find Gabi teaching spin class or volunteering at Ronald McDonald House!

JUNIOR PRESIDENT

Savannah Mohacsi

Class of 2020

Savannah Mohacsi is a junior from San Bernardino, CA, who is majoring in Human Biology and minoring in Art Practice. She is fascinated with how the humanities intersect with the sciences, and wants to further understand how the mind and body shape human experience, which is her Human Biology concentration. She is very passionate about the arts, and in her free time she loves to draw, paint, and sculpt. Even though the arts and sciences are such disparate fields, Savannah enjoys discovering how they can connect, often using medical subjects as inspiration for her art pieces. Savannah is a tour guide at the Cantor Art Center and the Anderson Collection, and a research intern in the Helm’s Lab, which is part of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She is studying the acceleration of bone regeneration after implant surgery using WNT proteins. Her ultimate goal is to be a Reconstructive Plastic Surgeon to use her skills as an artist to restore form and function to people’s bodies, who were in major accidents.  Savannah is also passionate about teaching, and remotely teaches English and literature to students in China. When she isn’t explaining the meaning of abstract art, teaching English, or pipetting in lab, you can find her bellydancing for Stanford’s Akasma Bellydance team.

VICE PRESIDENT

Lauren Hsue

Class of 2019

Lauren is a senior from Mercer Island, Washington, majoring in Biology.  Apart from being SWIM Vice President, she is involved in research in the Stanford Department of Orthopedic Surgery, working on a collection of projects investigating why female athletes so frequently tear their anterior cruciate ligaments (ACLs).  Lauren is also incredibly enthusiastic about teaching and has been a volunteer tutor for Stanford Tutoring for Community, worked as a TA in the Comparative Medicine Department, and serves as a Peer Health Educator.  She is pursuing medicine in order to convert her passion for life sciences and education into practices that will directly benefit patient health and help people stay able to pursue their ambitions to the fullest extent.  In her free time, she loves hiking, spin class, going to farmer’s markets, and drinking way too much coffee.

DIRECTOR OF MENTORSHIP

Komal Kumar

Class of 2020

Komal Kumar (often goes by the nickname Koko) is a junior from Redwood City, CA, majoring in Human Biology with a concentration in Neuroscience and Child Development. On campus, she works as co-president for the United Students for Veteran’s Health association, and shadows in Child Neurology at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. She also enjoys traveling with her family and spending time with friends, dancing and writing, and binge watching Friends. Koko wants to go into medicine as she believes it is an inherently fulfilling profession to help others, and has been involved with SWIM’s healthy and supportive premed community ever since she joined Stanford. She is excited to serve as the head of mentorship once again for the school year.

Emily Luo

Class of 2020

Leah Tolby

Class of 2021

Leah Tolby is a sophomore from Tucson, AZ who is majoring in Biology and minoring in Education. Leah has been involved in research since high school and currently works in a psychiatry lab that is part of the Cancer Survivorship Team. Leah is passionate about women's health and education, and hopes to one day be able to combine these passion. On campus, Leah is involved in Urban Styles, a contemporary dance group. She also enjoys tutoring, reading, petting dogs, and hiking.

DIRECTOR OF OUTREACH

Geeta Rajamani

Class of 2021

Geeta Rajamani is a sophomore from Saint Paul, Minnesota who is majoring in Human Biology. She is very passionate about healthcare, as it brings together her love for the biological sciences and helping others. Currently, she is very interested in public health, and specifically disparities research, and the field of pediatrics. In addition to SWIM, Geeta is involved in human biology research on campus and clinical volunteer work. She is also part of Basmati Raas, a nationally competitive Indian dance team. Her hobbies include dancing, shopping, and eating endless amounts of chocolate.

Miao Gong

Class of 2021

Miao Gong is a sophomore from Chicago, Illinois majoring in Human Biology and minoring in Classical Languages. She plans to pursue a career as a pediatrician and hopes to work with non-profits around the world. In addition to being a part of SWIM, Miao is also an active volunteer with Pacific Free Clinic of the Cardinal Free Clinics and the Stanford Health Advocacy and Research in the Emergency Department (SHARED) program. She also works at the Chiu lab in the Department of Pediatric Surgery and the Yang lab in the Department of Emergency Medicine. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, getting brunch with friends, and playing lacrosse as a member of the Stanford Women’s Club Lacrosse Team.

Rushali Patel

CO -DIRECTOR OF MEDIA & MARKETING

Class of 2020

Rushali Patel is a junior from Ahmedabad, India majoring in Biology and minoring in Computer Science. She spent last summer working on biocomputational research involving heart disease databases and the summer before that working in India to help curb domestic violence against women. Rushali is also an active volunteer with the Stanford Hospital and member of Girls Teaching Girls to Code. She enjoys watching movies and TV shows, traveling and singing.
